The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship made a visit to Snetterton on Tuesday and Wednesday for the series' annual Goodyear tyre test, and it was reigning champion Ash Sutton who topped the combined times after two days of running.

In hot conditions, it was a very strong showing for NAPA Racing UK, with Sutton leading home teammate Dan Cammish in the final timings by just 0.015s. Sutton clocked up more laps than any other driver on the Snetterton 300 circuit, and set his fastest lap on Wednesday morning to beat the current official lap record by more than six tenths of a second.

Sutton said: "We were selected to do some Goodyear tyre testing. So pretty much our whole day was based around testing out the option tyre and a few other things. I kind of took the limelight away from Dan [Cammish] who had raw pace on the right tyre if I'm honest. We were just running a completely different programme, as requested by Goodyear.

"We still made good progress with the car over the two days. We feel like we've had a lot of potential and that potential seemed to be showing in Dan's pace too, but I'm pleased with the two-day tyre test and am looking forward to going to Knockhill and trying out some of the things we've learnt."

Jake Hill was third overall in the final standings, just under three tenths shy of Sutton's pace in his ROKIT MB Motorsport BMW, whilst championship leader ran fourth one place ahead of three-time title winner Gordon Shedden.
