Mercedes-AMG machinery moved to the top of the British GT Championship times during Pre-Qualifying at Snetterton this afternoon, with Phil Keen setting the pace ahead of the split-Qualifying sessions later on.

The 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG, which Keen shares with Ian Loggie, was second earlier on but moved to top with an effort of 1m46.343s. This was enough to move 0.187s clear of the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini of Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell which set the pace earlier on.

The second Barwell car of father-son duo Rob and Ricky Collard with third fastest at the close of the hour-long session ahead of Kevin Tse and Maxi Goetz’s Mercedes-AMG – another 2 Seas Motorsport entry. The top-five was completed by another familial duo with father Richard Neary and son Sam Neary  at the wheel of yet another Mercedes-AMG.

The lead McLaren was piloted to its best time by Marcus Clutton, who lapped within half a second of the outright pace in the car he shares with Morgan Tillbrook. Max Hesse was next up in his first appearance as John Ferguson’s co-driver in RAM Racing’s BMW M4 GT3.

The top-ten was completed by two more McLarens, the Optimum Motorsport machine of Tom Gamble and Mark Radcliffe just ahead of Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley, plus the Blackthorn Aston Martin of Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam.
