BTCC FP2: Cammish leads as Fords continue strong Snetterton form

20 May 2023

Dan Cammish continued NAPA Racing UK’s strong form in Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton by topping the times in the second session of the day. Cammish led a team one-two in the session, with Ford Focus ST stablemate Daniel Rowbottom second with Free Practice 1 leader Ash Sutton fourth and Sam Osborne in the squad’s other car fifth.

Cammish's leading pace was almost a second slower than that set by Sutton in the morning session, as the BTCC tin tops lapped the 2.97-mile 300 circuit in brilliant Norfolk sunshine. Cammish set a best time of 1m55.814s to rise to the top of the leaderboard with an effort which was ultimately enough to edge teammate Rowbottom out by +0.043s.

The highest placed non-NAPA Ford was the WSR-prepared BMW 330e M Sport of Jake Hill, who heads into this weekend chasing a first victory of 2023. Hill was just a tenth slower than Cammish's best time, which was enough to slot into third between Rowbottom and Sutton.

Behind Osborne, Josh Cook was the next best behind the Fords and Hill in sixth. The regular series frontrunner moved up into the top-10 after missing out in Free Practice 1 with an effort three tenths shy of the benchmark. Tom Chilton was seventh from Stephen Jelley eighth.

The top-10 was completed by a pair of champions with reigning title winner Tom Ingram ninth, one place in front of Colin Turkington, four times winner of the BTCC crown.

This was the final practice session of the weekend ahead of Qualifying which is scheduled to take place from 15:40 this afternoon.
